New results are online from the survey conducted by AON in collaboration with Centro Studi Lattanzio KIBS on the transformation of Italy's public administration: digitalization, welfare and sustainability are the key directions identified by both public employees and citizens.

What does Public Administration really need to reclaim an increasingly central role in the country?

This is the question at the heart of "PA Next-Gen: A New Imprint for a Public Administration with a Great Future," the survey carried out by Aon in collaboration with Centro Studi Lattanzio KIBS, gathering the results of research conducted across the world of public entities.

The study brings together two complementary perspectives, the internal viewpoint of public sector employees and the external viewpoint of citizens, to build a shared picture of the pressing needs for change. Three main directions emerged from the research:

  • Modernization and digitalization, seen as an enabling condition for making public administration more efficient and more responsive to the real needs of citizens and businesses
  • Welfare, with a growing demand for plans and tools to support the wellbeing of people working in public administration
  • Sustainability, increasingly central to the strategic and cultural direction of public entities
