Promoting gender equality in Turkey

As part of the 2018-2021 Strategic Note of UN Women Türkiye, the strategy that articulates UN Women's mandate towards the promotion of gender equality and women's empowerment in Turkey in the period 2022-2025, UN Women Türkiye promoted the project “Advancing gender equality and women's leadership in political and business life”. Financially supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA), the project contributes to the promotion of gender equality, particularly with regard to women's political participation in decision-making processes and women's leadership in the country's private sector.

Lattanzio KIBS is in charge of the independent evaluation of the project "Advancing gender equality and women's leadership in political and business life" for UN Women and its partners with the aim of examining its programmatic progress and performance.

In particular, the results of the evaluation will be used to engage politicians and other relevant stakeholders in evidence-based dialogues and to advocate for increased women's leadership at local and central levels. 

The analysis focuses on the criteria of relevance, effectiveness, impact, organisational efficiency, coherence and sustainability of the project, with a focus on the cross-cutting perspective of human rights and gender equality, by collecting data in Ankara, Eskişehir, Istanbul and Gaziantep. The evaluation is conducted with a mixed method approach, involving both quantitative and qualitative methods, including key informant interviews and focus groups.

Project Impact 

Lattanzio KIBS contributes to the evaluation of the project to make a positive and tangible contribution to the promotion of gender equality and women's empowerment in Turkey. Thanks to the know-how acquired on gender equality, the evaluation findings and recommendations provide UN Women with the tools for further programmatic improvements and for actions increasingly focused on creating an environment in which every woman and girl can exercise her human rights and live up to her full potential.
