Lattanzio KIBS organises the national opening ceremony of the 2026/2027 school year in Amatrice, turning the tenth anniversary of the Central Italy earthquake into a national message of continuity and confidence in the future
The work behind a story of rebirth
Behind the national opening ceremony of the 2026/2027 school year is the work of Lattanzio KIBS, which organised it alongside the Ministry of Education and Merit. A commitment that continues, for the second consecutive year, the framework agreement already behind the 2025 ceremony in Naples: turning an event of great institutional, media and symbolic complexity into a narrative able to convey, with the solemnity it deserves, the meaning of such a delicate anniversary.
Amatrice, ten years on
It is thanks to this work that, on 21 September in Amatrice, the ceremony was able to convey the meaning of a community being reborn, exactly ten years after the earthquake of 24 August 2016 that struck Central Italy, causing 299 victims.
At the “Sergio Marchionne” school, rebuilt in the hamlet of San Cipriano and now attended by over 500 students, President Mattarella recalled that schools must “be open to everyone”, able to build social cohesion - words warmly welcomed by Minister Valditara. After Naples (2025) and Cagliari (2024), the event returned to the heart of the central Apennines.
