Innovation, development, growth factors

Firms that innovate on a large scale gain space for growth both during the crisis period and especially in the post-crisis period. This is an empirical observation, well known and preached in all business-schools and management consulting firms. But companies still struggle to apply it.

The Lattanzio KIBS Observatory investigates and analyzes trends and perspectives in the field of open innovation by collaborating with experts in the field and supporting targeted initiatives.

Trends and prospects of Open Innovation in the insurance supply chain

The Observatory gave methodological support to the first Insurtech Open Innovation Readiness survey that was conducted in collaboration with the Italian Insurtech Association (IIA).

The objective is to continue the collaboration toward a path of periodic monitoring of the state of the art, trends, prospects and challenges to be faced for the development and maturation of Open Innovation practices in the insurance supply chain.

The sample

The analysis of the insurance world focused on a sample of 110 companies belonging to the IIA.
A clustering was carried out on these on a qualitative and quantitative basis.

Two clusters were identified: the first concerns those operating as an insurer, reinsurer, broker or distributor, and the second allowed the study of insurtech startups/scaleups.
