Lattanzio KIBS is awarded the independent evaluation for UNICEF
The Children's Parliament Initiative is an initiative of the Zimbabwe Youth Council, established in 1991 with the aim of ensuring effective participation of children and youth in governance. UNICEF Zimbabwe supports the initiative, focusing its efforts on the election of adolescents to Parliament, their orientation and related activities with an oversight role on their rights and welfare.
More details
Lattanzio KIBS returns the first independent evaluation of the initiative to UNICEF, the Zimbabwe Ministry of Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation, the Zimbabwe Youth Council, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, the Parliament of Zimbabwe and other stakeholders.
Specifically, through meetings and interviews with children, the evaluation identifies for the first time best practices and lessons learnt, gaps to be filled and strengths of the initiative, and provides data on its relevance, effectiveness and efficiency in terms of children's participation in governance.
Project Impact
Lattanzio KIBS Intervention plays a key learning role, generating valuable lessons in terms of children's participation and engagement, to be considered for the refinement and implementation of the same initiative in the future.
The support provided contributes to the advancement of the Children's Parliament and its goals of promoting child-friendly legislation and policies through effective child participation and representation.
