Lattanzio KIBS supports the Ministry of Education and Science of Kyrgyzstan in the design and implementation of a national Continuous Professional Development System aimed at strengthening the skills and capacities of education professionals.
The decline in the quality of education—particularly due to inadequate infrastructure and a severe shortage of active and qualified professionals—represents a major challenge to the development of the education sector in Kyrgyzstan. To ensure a sustainable and long-term reform of the school education system, the Government, with support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), launched the Strengthening Education System program for the period 2012–2020. This national initiative aims to improve the training of both in-service and pre-service teachers, introduce new teaching methodologies and learning assessment systems, and more broadly, facilitate the professional development of university staff and training institutions.
More Details
The initiative includes 9 core e-learning modules, 30 innovative schools, and the involvement of 100 school principals and vice-principals, supported by numerous coaching sessions, listening activities, and focus groups. Lattanzio KIBS provides support throughout all phases of the project—from contextual analysis and model design to implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and dissemination of results. The company also coordinates the overall activities and fosters the creation of local partnership networks to support the exchange of best practices, not only through traditional methods but also via an E-twinning platform that enables online knowledge sharing with training institutions worldwide.
Project objectives include:
-
Developing and piloting a comprehensive model for in-service teachers and school leaders in 30 innovative schools, with the goal of scaling it up at the national level.
-
Delivering a diverse and tailored training offer for teacher trainers, school leaders, and teachers to test the newly developed materials and innovative teaching techniques.
-
Designing a package of training modules for knowledge sharing, through the implementation of a learning management system.
-
Creating guidelines for key stakeholders to enable teachers and school leaders to independently apply the model.
-
Establishing partnerships and twinning agreements between Kyrgyz schools and international institutions.
Project Impact
Lattanzio KIBS has played a key role in facilitating the implementation and management of the project, enabling the large-scale adoption of a comprehensive continuous professional development model involving education professionals across the country.
Thanks to this innovative approach, the Kyrgyz Government is promoting an active and conscious learning culture—moving away from traditional passive methods—through a well-balanced combination of different methodologies such as training workshops, conferences and events, e-learning programs, best practice sharing, and collaborative idea exchange.
