Lattanzio KIBS together with the African Development Bank to evaluate the Country Strategic Plan (CSP) 2021-2025 for Tanzania

The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting issues have significantly slowed Tanzania's economic growth. Against this backdrop, the African Development Bank (AfDB) developed the CSP 2021-2025 for Tanzania with the goal of supporting the country's economy and competitiveness. Lattanzio KIBS had the opportunity to work with the African Development Bank to assess the effectiveness of this important strategic document and the bank's interventions in the country with a view to post-pandemic economic development.

More details

The evaluation project aims to support the Bank's strategy and operational approach with an analysis of the Bank's previous operations in the territory.

The analysis looks at ADB’s 3 areas of operations in Tanzania, namely:

  • governance and private sector development
  • agriculture/water and sanitation supply
  • transportation and energy infrastructure

The evaluation includes field visits to the sites of 5 projects recently completed or nearing completion as well as data collection on project outcomes from final beneficiaries.

Project Impact

The assessment provides  a clear view of the 2021-2025 activities of the Country Strategic Plan, providing useful insights to improve its implementation. As a result of the analysis, which considers the whole territory of Tanzania, the Development Bank will be able to derive the best practices and lessons learnt needed to move the CSP forward as effectively as possible.
