Ezio Lattanzio as a guest of Age-it at the event "Un Istituto per il Futuro della Popolazione" at the Ministry of Health
A new vision for aging
Italy has a unique demographic structure, with a population that lives longer and healthier, and with one of the lowest birth rates in the world.
Longevity requires a strategic vision to look towards a new, increasingly diversified society in terms of consumption habits, health and welfare needs, and continuously evolving relational dynamics.
Italy: a potential global reference
The event, organized by Age-it on January 14, 2025, at the "Cosimo Piccinno" Auditorium at the Ministry of Health in Rome, highlights longevity as a key resource for the future of the country, with a focus on prevention, active aging, and positive demographics.
Age-it’s proposal (a research program funded by the PNRR, involving 27 major research centers coordinated by the University of Florence) is to establish an Italian Institute for the Future of the Population (IFuP), with the aim of making Italy an international scientific hub for aging research but, above all, a "laboratory" in the socio-economic and technological fields—not just biomedicine—towards all generations.
The vision of the Silver Economy Network: a society for all ages
Ezio Lattanzio, in his role as a counselor for the Silver Economy Network—the first Italian network within the industrial world—brings the business perspective to enhance longevity and seize its economic and social development opportunities, alongside institutions, the research community, and the third sector.
"Business is a valuable partner, able to provide a privileged view of the social and market context when designing public policies in response to the concrete needs of today’s and tomorrow’s citizens." In Lattanzio’s view, "longevity is one of the true engines of global economic growth. However, we must focus on social cohesion: only by doing so can we ensure that this phenomenon becomes not only a great opportunity for our economies but also a sustainable and inclusive path for everyone."
