The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) commissions Lattanzio KIBS to develop e-learning courses

WOAH is an intergovernmental organization responsible for improving animal health and welfare worldwide. The accelerating rise in antimicrobial resistance is a threat that profoundly impacts global health and compromises our ability to treat bacterial infections, making antibiotics and other antimicrobials less effective, with direct and indirect consequences on various aspects of human, animal and plant health, as well as the environment. This is why it is launching its own online training portal where topics crucial to the daily work of Veterinary Services (VS) can be explored in depth. The training, based on a Competency-based Training Framework (CBTF), is structured in 16 Competency Packages with the aim of strengthening the implementation of WOAH standards with respect to certain topics and competences.

More Details

Lattanzio KIBS produces five e-learning modules on the responsible use of antimicrobials on terrestrial and aquatic wildlife, in accordance with WOAH standards and guidelines, and in line with the integrated "One Health" approach, which recognizes the interconnection between human, animal and environmental health. The interactive modules are designed to be included in Competency Package 8 on the 'informed use of veterinary products'.

Specifically, Lattanzio KIBS is responsible for identifying the pre-requisites necessary for course attendance and assessing the suitability of learners through an entrance test. The modules, developed in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese, are designed on the basis of an innovative and participatory learning methodology thanks to the alternation of videos, images, animations, interactions and formative questions during the course.

Project Impact

The modules significantly increase the organization’s distance learning offerings, with a direct impact on the development of VS knowledge and skills and the dissemination of WOAH standards in global veterinary practice. You can access the WOAH training portal and view available resources, including modules on the responsible use of antimicrobial agents in terrestrial and aquatic animals (CP 8), at the organization’s website.
