Fostering local development in 14 Inner Areas of Lombardy

In the 2021-2027 programming cycle, the Lombardy Region has allocated €196 million, financed through EU resources (ERDF and ESF+), as well as national and regional funds, to revitalise 14 Inner Areas, specifically, 488 municipalities, through the Regional Strategy “Agenda del Controesodo.” The aim is to revitalise these territories by pursuing two main objectives: on the one hand, counteracting the socioeconomic weakening of the most fragile areas and aligning development opportunities across the entire regional system; on the other hand, strengthening essential citizenship services and enhancing the use of territorial capital.

Lattanzio KIBS supports the Directorate General for Local Authorities of the Lombardy Region throughout all stages of programming, management, implementation, control, closure, and dissemination of the Area Strategies.

This highly specialised service is structured around six integrated lines of intervention:

1. Technical, administrative, and regulatory support
2. Definition of requirements for the new monitoring information system
3. Assistance with physical-financial monitoring and financial management
4. Management of relations with institutional and local stakeholders
5. Information, capacity building, and thematic dissemination
6. Contribution to programming beyond 2027

Project Impact

By combining compliance and performance, Lattanzio KIBS’s intervention contributes to significant administrative simplification through precise management of interventions, to strengthening the administrative capacity of municipalities and the regional administration through knowledge transfer, and to capitalising on results in view of a smooth transition to the post-2027 programming period.

Thanks to comprehensive technical assistance, the Region is able to achieve the shared goals of the Strategy and transform Inner Areas into drivers of inclusive, digital, and sustainable development.
