Lattanzio KIBS supports IREN in a strategic research project aimed at understanding customer behavior to develop personalized commercial solutions based on 2G smart meter data

The rollout of second-generation (2G) electricity meters has created new opportunities for energy providers, enabling the collection of detailed, real-time consumption data. To fully leverage this potential, IREN launched a research initiative to gain a deeper understanding of customer habits and preferences, with the goal of designing more effective and customized commercial offers.

More details
Lattanzio KIBS assists IREN in conducting an integrated market study designed to identify the main drivers of consumer choice and their openness towards dynamic, data-driven tariff models.

The project adopts a mixed-method research approach, combining qualitative and quantitative tools within a unified and coherent framework. The first phase, qualitative in nature, involves 24 in-depth online interviews with clients and prospects, selected to ensure balanced representation across sociodemographic variables and energy consumption profiles. These interviews provide valuable insights into consumer expectations, habits, and perceived barriers to adopting new, innovative tariff models, laying the groundwork for the subsequent quantitative phase.

The second phase, quantitative, includes two parallel surveys involving a total of 4,000 respondents (2,000 IREN customers and 2,000 prospects). The questionnaire, enriched with choice experiments and simulated scenarios, measures interest in different tariff models and segments customers into distinct behavioral clusters.

The data analysis produces an integrated report featuring graphical visualizations and strategic recommendations to support the design of personalized, data-driven commercial offers based on smart meter insights.

Project impact

The research provides IREN with a robust knowledge base to better interpret customer needs and expectations in the context of digital transformation and energy sustainability. Through its data-driven approach and the integration of qualitative and quantitative analyses, Lattanzio KIBS contributes to shaping more targeted commercial models that harness the potential of smart meters and strengthen customer relationships through enhanced personalization of services.
